"Dear Red Bull,

As a fan of the sport and ever more, a fan of Red Bull, I want to say thank you.  With the 107% Grid Rule being implemented into the 2011 season, I was afraid that, as fans, we would see all the new teams lose out on the chance to race.

Even though I am sure that there were quite a few dollars 'adjusted' to the team with in the deal to allow Lotus Racing the use of Red Bull gearboxes and hydraulic systems, I like the idea of Red Bull Racing leading the way to a new era of racing.  As a fan, we only hear what the teams want us to hear and I understand that a lot of the teams use similar engines but there are not too many cases of a team handing over major technology to a new team. I am sure that many other fans, like myself were all to frightened of the idea of not seeing good talent and good teams make it into the race. Thank you

I am sure that you have hear it from Lotus Racing and it's partners, but I am not too sure how often you hear it from a fan.  Thank you.  I have looked everywhere and cannot find any other current team willing to enter into a deal like this.  I hope that Red Bull can lead the way for other teams to take the initiative to ensure the future of the sport.  To become, like Red Bull,  a stand up team that can remember and appreciate  where they began, see the struggles of a competitor and be willing to lend a hand.  To be a team comprised of 'humans' with compassion and ingenuity

As quoted, Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner: "We are very pleased about .Lotus Racing's decision to use Red Bull Technology gearboxes and hydraulic systems from 2011.

"The fact that Red Bull Technology has been chosen to be a supplier to another team despite its short history demonstrates how much we have achieved since our first season. We very much look forward to working with Lotus Racing from 2011 onwards."

Good job guys!  Thank you! - Samantha, a fan."

I wrote this blog on Red Bull Racing's Community forum and never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would get any response from Red Bull Racing themselves.  I wrote it on behalf of all true Formula One fans, not just Red Bull racing fans, to thank them for being the first team to stand up and become a icon within the sport.  I wanted them to know how much it joys the fans to see that we are not the only people that were afraid that the sport would become monopolized between a few teams and leave no future teams the ability to join or more like the ability to participate.

As a fan and with the knowledge of the sport, I am sure that it wasn't free for Lotus to take on Red Bull Technology but I thought that a thank you was in store.

I posted the blog on October 8, 2010 3:34 PM and on 10 October, 2010 1:10 AM, Red Bull Racing responded. Simple yet effective in my eyes, "Just to let you know we've forwarded this on to Christian. Thanks Samantha."  It is good to hear that a major team like Red Bull cares as much about it's fans as it does the sport.  It probably only took the team two minutes at the most to read the blog and then another two minutes at the most to respond.  Yet something so simple take on a whole other meaning when you are talking about a sport like Formula One and a team like Red Bull.

Reading other posts by Team Intercom (which is Red Bull Racing team's online name), they were still in Suzuka, Japan. Just taking time between the first two practises then fixing the hotel's electronic gate, (Yet another step in the right direction for Red Bull, no qualms. They saw something that had to be done and did it) and the quali, race, pack-up, flight home, they took the time and posted a simple yet effective comment on my blog.

Thank you! I appreciate the commitment that everyone at Red Bull Racing has for their fans.

Samantha

  1. Awesome! I love RBR ;)

What is that story with hotel gate? I must've missed because was quite busy last week and hardly found some time to watch Suzuka Grand Prix.

  2. Asking about the hotel gate right?

Well, the Hotel that the Red Bull Team had stayed at, the electric gate to secure the car park had failed. Nobody was able to get to the Suzuka Circut until the gate was able to be raised. Of course, the Red Bull engineers stepped up to the plate and headed up the step ladders and got things sorted. They saw something that needed to be done and did it. And they wanted to get to the race!
