With rumours of both Adrian Sutil and Tonio Luizzi having possible moves away from Force India a new battle within the paddock is starting to heat up.
Luizzi is contracted to Force India for 2011 and Sutil has a one-year option to continue his deal. Yet both are linked with moves away from their seats and the team.
In the paddock though, we see another two drivers that are without seats and in supposed talks with force India, Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg are in the hunt for the two race seats next season as well.
It seems almost strange to be writing about Force India in this view, but like all new teams, they just need time to prove themselves, to give their team credentials and for the population to see their potential.
With the 2010 season over and the world driver's title decided, it is great to see a different approach to the sport. There is so much in the media about the top teams and the top drivers that it is also great to see the 'behind the scenes' as well.
Force India, the Silverstone-based team are yet to reveal their driver line-up for next year after their two seats were listed as 'TBA' on the official FIA entry list for 2011.
The general consensus the past few months has been that the team will promote reserve driver Paul di Resta should one or both of them decide to move on.
However, Williams' decision to release Hulkenberg has put a spanner in the works with Di Resta now in danger of missing out on a race seat.
According to the BBC, 'Hulkenberg's sudden unemployment has complicated matters for Di Resta as the German is now closing in on the Force India seat the Scot has been warming all season as the team's reserve.
'Formula 1 insiders believe the hearts and minds of Force India are with Di Resta and the team want to give him one of the two seats.'
With it being ever reserve driver's dream, every little boy and girl that vigilantly watches each and every race's dream, there will never be enough seats to go around. Sure Mosley will always refuse to allow any more new teams into the paddock after what he has claimed this year about the new incumbents. What we may miss out on now would possibly be many new talented young drivers.
