A Bit Of F1 Fun

Released just a few short hours ago by Disney Pixar Studios was a few new voices for the new movie, Cars 2, (set to be leased June 24th).

Yes, we are mainly all adults here, but let me ask... Which one of you has not seen the original Cars movie? Even if you haven't gone out personally to the theaters to watch it.  I am sure that you have a young son or nephew that has fallen in love and demanded that you watch it with them.  I have a 2 year old nephew who will be making his theater debut (along with 100's of other young boys) during the last week in July.

Lewis Hamilton has just been given a role in the movie. At this point, we are not sure how large or in which country it will be voiced in, but he has, and here is his character.

We that we know that Lewis Hamilton will be playing a role in Disney Pixar's Cars 2, but he is not the first to do so.

Cars (the orignal) Guido and Luigi are in their wheels shop at the end of the film and Michael Schumacher appears at Luigi's shop after being told by Lightning McQueen that "this is the best place in the world to buy tires", and asks to order a few sets of tires for himself and a pair of Maserati Quattroportes who accompany him. After Luigi faints from the excitement of having "a real Michael Schumacher Ferrari in his store", Schumacher speaks to Guido in Italian, and Guido subsequently faints. The Italian phrase he speaks is, "I hope that your friend recovers, I was told that you are fantastic."

Being such a successful movie, Cars was put out in a large number of languages for the different country.  Cars 2 will most definitely be the same and once the actors / drivers names are released, we will update you.

For a movie based on cars and racing, who else would you get to do voice overs with the majority of your viewing audience Formula One fans and not so much NASCAR fans?  The F1 drivers of past and present of course!

Delinquent Road Hazards

In the Italian dub, three of the Hazards are voiced by former F1 drivers: Giancarlo Fisichella (Boost), Emanuele Pirro (Wingo) and Jarno Trulli (DJ).

Mario Andretti

Andretti voices his own character and in the Spanish edition of the movie, Andretti is voiced by Formula One champion, Fernando Alonso.

 Michael Schumacher plays himself.

In the Danish edition of the movie, Strip "The King" Weathers, is voiced by Finnish two-time Formula One World Champion Mika Häkkinen.

So when Cars 2 comes out, I say that we are going to the theaters to support our drivers.... Not just to enjoy the film!
