What's In A Name?

When it comes to the sport of Formula One we can all most certainly agree that it is all about names. Team, drivers, suppliers and circuits are all part of the makeup of F1.

When you hear the name Ferrari you think prestige. Being one of the longest running names in Formula One, they have become the pinnacle that all teams and drivers strive for. Ferrari has become synonymous with the words passion and speed. Both on track and amongst their fans, the Tiffosi

Being from Canada and trying to talk about the sport with 'non-fans', it's quite difficult. What I have discovered that to bridge the gap between us all that is needed is to mention Michael Schumacher. His name can ignite the 'F1 fire' in just about anyone. It can take a non-fan and turn them into a great conversation! The name Michael Schumacher (whether you love him or love to hate him) can connect sports fans the world over.

Is there any other motorsport that can stir up such raw emotions in any fan by which track is being run? Take the Monaco Grand Prix circuit. You may love or hate it but when you see it as the next race on the F1 calendar you can feel the excitement starting to build. Monaco is know to be one hell of a weekend either way and will bring out every fans 'true colours'. You may find yourself cheering for a team / driver you would never had expected. It did for me!

When you hear the name Girls Like F1 Too what is it that comes to mind? Is it the idea of a woman / women trying to break the fangirl stereotype? Is it just a Formula One Feeder? Does it make you think of a woman trying to make it in / into a male dominated industry? Or is it just a Facebook fan page run by 'a bunch of girls'?

And so I ask you.... What's in a name? (Our name to be exact)

  1. When I see the name "Girls like F1 Too" it fills me with hope that there are girls like that here in the US of A. Girls who will understand the passion I have for a sport which has little to do with the USA at the moment.
