This Week In F1 : 25 Sept - 1 Oct

So much can happen in a week in Formula One and it can be very difficult to wade through the mess of news posted all over internet sites and Facebook pages that we've decided to bring together some of the most talked about (and controversial) stories to hit the press for the week of September 25th.

Starting off on a happy note, The doctor in charge of Robert Kubica's rehabilitation says it is a certainty that he will return to Formula One in 2012. Robert Kubica has been the talk of the Formula One world since Renault's team principal, Eric Boullier, set a deadline of mid-October for the confirmation of the team's driver line-up for 2013. Thought Kubica's doctor will not put a tentative date on his recovery, he was quoted on saying, "I cannot say when he will be ready but it will be between the months of November and January."

Though the race for World Driver's Title may be decided at the 2011 Korean Grand Prix next weekend, Force India's Vijay Mallya knows that there is still room for improvement and many points in the Constructor's title still available. Vowing on focusing to beat Renault to 5th place in the constructor's title. Coming from a team with limited resources (compared to the top 5), Vijay Mallya knows that with each constructor's point that there is television rights money at stake.

We all know (and saw) that the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix was run on Sunday 25 September and the night race took it's toll (Singapore Grand Prix: One Point). Sure, Sebastian Vettel nearly walked away with his second World Driver's Title but what most people remember where the collisions. Mainly the collision(s) between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa.

It has actually become a raging debate on some forum sites, the two drivers and their bitter rivalry since Brazil 2008. We can see that with the post race interviews that both drivers seem totally unaware that they are being held in the limelight and go and act childish.

But being Singapore, these two driver's where not the only ones to 'knock wheels' and we can see that it takes a rookie to show what it means and takes to be humble. Daniel Ricciardo stepped up and took the 'blame' for his collision with Timo Glock at the same race.
“It was my mistake for going in a bit too deep and it was a costly one..."

In 'Bernie' news...

The Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) has written to Bernie Ecclestone and FIA President Jean Todt stating that the 2012 race calendar was written up out of adherence to the Concorde Agreement. "There is a process for the validation of the calendar, especially with more flyaways, and we will be involved in this because there is a cost issue," FOTA vice-chairman Eric Boullier told Autosport. "There are different proposals at the moment, but it is not so easy to move one date."

And we expected Bernie to keep quite about the whole issue?

"They don't have to go if they don't want to," he said. And when he was asked about the teams being unhappy that the procedures were not followed, "Then they should go to the police. They are lucky we have got races. Otherwise they would all go out of business."

But Bernie wasn't done yet! Later in the week Bernie had essentially labelled the FOTA as unnecessary, in an interview found on formula1.com stating that its members' financial interests are best served by him.
It is an unnecessary association of people who should put their sole emphasis on getting competitive cars on the grid. It's just more of what they don't have to think of. I look after that so there are enough financial resources.
