Vettel Wins The 2011 Italian Grand Prix

Adding another 25 points to his lead in the Driver's title standings, Sebastian Vettel won the 2011 Italian Grand Prix as his Red Bull team-mate, Mark Webber failed to cross the checkered flag.

Race start and before the first corner exit, the Italian crowd was witness to one of their own, Vitantonio Liuzzi, losing control of his HRT and sliding sideways across the grass and into turn one and into the mid pack. Colliding with Mercedes' Nico Rosberg and Renault's Vitaly Petrov and ending the race for the three drivers. Bring the safety car out, William's Rubens Barrichello was relived of the entanglement and able to continue (and finish the race in 12th).

Race re-start and that is where the action began. Mercedes' Michael Schumacher was able to overtake McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and defend him off for a number of laps. McLaren's Jenson Button was able to catch up to the battling duo and on lap 16 made his move and was able to pass the duo. Eventually Hamilton was able to overtake Schumacher for a 4th place finish with Schumacher crossing the line in 5th.

Toro Rosso's Jamie Alguersuari had unequivocally, one of the best drives of the season. Able to both miss the collision at race start and go from qualifying in 18th to finishing the race 7th. His finish was comfortable and Force India's Paul di Resta was holding of Renault's Bruno Senna for 8th position.

With the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix only two weeks away, many of the driver's have conceded the 2011 title, that they are now battling it out for second place. A win for Sebastian Vettel in Singapore would leave himself all but untouchable and win himself his second World Driver's Title.
