Qualifying At Interlagos

What I love about a race weekend is Q1.  The top teams normally do not make an appearance on screen and so the television crew focus' on the back pack.  I enjoy watching the mid to back of the field as most people don't realize the fights that are happening there. Most fans get upset that back markers don't 'pull over' and fail to see that they are also in a race of their own.

Watching the pair of Williams scream around the track, my thoughts are on the idea of watching the 2012 season and not seeing Rubens Barrichello. Since the day that I began watching Formula One, Barrichello has been there. It will be a very sad day when he is not in a car.

The big surprise with Q1 was the MVR drivers. Whether it was a tyre selection issue or just the wrong set up due to rain in the forecast, d'Ambrosio and Glock failed to set a quicker time that the HRT's. Being the final race of the season, they are looking for the best possible finishes to boost their WCC standings.

Q2 was fantastic to watch. Even if you aren't a 'fan' of Barrichello, it was almost certain you found yourself cheering him on. With the possibility of it being his final race and his home race, it was wonderful to see him take P12.

Q3 and no big surprises. Vettel gain his 15th pole of the season and set himself a new record. Webber in his Red Bull holding out the front row from the pair of McLarens. Alonso and Rosberg holding P5 and P6 respectively.

And as the final race of the season is about to take place, we see rain in the forecast and every Formula One fan knows that we are about to witness a phenomenon. Remembering back to the 2003 race, 25 laps in and there was a 5 car 'pile up'. Rain in Brazil is a strange thing, it can cause front runners to end up in the tyres and the midfield to finish on the podium.
