Possible Expansion In The Horizon For Circuit Of The Americas?

June 10th saw many fans logging onto their Internet service to see what the prices of the 2012 US Grand Prix were. Most of those fans bought tickets as the Unites States has not hosted a GP weekend since June 17th 2007. Though the Unites States is thought to be a NASCAR country, there are many Formula One fans spread out across the entire nation. Nearly every single one of these fans wanted to be there, in Austin, during this historical weekend. The weekend that Formula One comes back.

After just five days, it is speculated that every single ticket that has gone on sale to the general public has been sold out. There are no premium tickets available. No grandstand tickets anywhere and all the general admission (ground pass) have been bought up.

Once some of the drivers and teams touched down on American soil after the 2012 Montreal Grand Prix in New York City (for the FOTA Fan Forum) the public's hunger for Formula One grew. To this, the Circuit of The Americas had a response.

COTA (Circuit of The Americas) officials announced on June 15th that due to overwhelming demand for reserved seats to the 2012 Formula One US Grand Prix that they would consider adding new grandstand sections to accommodate customer requests for three-day reserved grandstand bleacher seats.  Circuit Vice President of Public and Community Relations Julie Loignon said:
“We have experienced incredible demand for reserved grandstand seating tickets, and customers have quickly purchased our available inventory. As such, we are considering installing more reserved seats between Turns 9 and 10 and between Turns 11 and 12 in place of other types of seating that had been planned for those areas. We will release more information about new grandstand inventory and when additional reserved seats might be available for purchase as soon as possible.

“We continue to see steady sales of personal seat licenses with premium seating and on-site parking at the Circuit. We are extremely pleased with how things are going overall, since our public ticket sales began less than a week ago.”
