Kimi Raikkonen was slowest on day seven as his E20 was sporting a new floor, front and rear wings and barge boards, but Raikkonen's morning run was limited due to a steering column change by the team. He completed just 43 laps in total over the course of the day.
After only 17 laps done in the morning, McLaren saw Jenson Button into the pits with a hydraulic problem for the second half of the session. With only 44 laps done over the course of the day, Button was able to get himself and his MP4-27 in the second place on the timing sheets with a 1:22.103.
The big attraction was with Red Bull and their revised version of the RB8. The team flew out a new chassis to Barcelona and had many of the parts already installed. The team tried to hide its upgrades by swarming the car with mechanics and a rear wing cover on every return to the pits, but several photos revealed a completely new exhaust positioning and front wing.
