2010 Season Review In Pictures. Part Five: Singapore to Korea

Tensions tightened now that we were down to the final five races of the season.  The drivers in contention for the WDC were starting to push themselves to the limit and sometimes beyond without thinking of the consequences. Quotes by Martin Brundle and others.

The Singapore weekend was rules completely by Ferrari and Fernando Alonso.  Taking home the win and the trifecta from the weekend.

“(Alonso’s) not always easy to love, but he’s very easy to admire.”
Neck and neck for points, Lap 36 of 61, Hamilton is forced off the track and did not finish for the second race running. "His progress has been halted in rather a hurry.”
Singapore is a race unto it's own.  The only night race on the calendar but it also gives the drivers a heart stopping corner. “The track surface is forty percent new this year. The bumps are still out there, I’m very pleased to say.”
What most people remember about the Singapore Grand Prix though is Heikki Kovalanien's Finish. "After 47 laps we are still on the same lap as the leader. hasn't happened to us before." -Fernandes. Then the inevitable happened.
The Japanese Grand Prix Weekend came and rain was predicted in the forecast.  No one every believes the weatherman anymore in F1.  Japan proved them all wrong.
Qualifying was cancelled until Sunday morning because of heavy rain.                                          “I wouldn’t wanna be in the Safety Car at the moment, let alone an F1 car.”
“Only Martin Brundle could manage to do a gridwalk in a garage!”
When the Driver's Parade finally took place under the sun,  Lewis Hamilton was driven around the track in a 1950s Messerschmitt KR175, giving everyone a good chuckle.
With qualifying being postponed till Sunday, It must have worn on the driver's nerves as on race start, Petrov, Massa, Hulkenber and Liuzzi all crahsed out.

To everyone's surprise, all eye's were on one driver, Kamui Kobayashi. Infront of his home crowd, came into his own.

“I thought Kobayashi was gonna have a go at the medical car there, just to finish the day off.”
There was a new race on the calender this year. S Korea. The track had promises of fast straights and smooth corners.  What we saw though, was a race full of mishaps and rain.
Coming into Korea, the fight for the title was only seen once before between multiple drivers. It was so historic that the contenders recreated a momentous photo.
New race, historical picture remake and someone turned 80! Bernie got a new set of wheels from the boys at Red Bull.
Just like every other race, there was rain in the forecast. And S Korea gave us just that, rain.

“I’ve found myself a two hundred grand umbrella"
“You always know how motivated you are when you press the throttle harder at two hundred miles an hour when you can’t see where you’re going but you daren’t lift off because somebody will run into the back of you.”
Along with the rain in Korea came the dashed hopes of one team. Red Bull's two drivers both retired from the race. Webber with the fantastic wreck and Vettel with an engine fire. Alonso winning the race putting him into lead for the driver's title.

Mark Webber's lead is dashed with a spin off the track in Korea. “It’s so frustrating for a driver when the track tries to spit you off like that.”
Emulating Kovalainen in Singapore, Vettel had to extinguish the engine fire of his RB6. As the sun set, the race finished and the fight for the title was even closer heading into the last two races of the season.
